Re: wrong CPU cores number and much more

Just to push the subject to the top. I have checked into the uems program files including the install script, but I did not find how the number of cores could be incorrectly determined. I tried to force (I mean to hardcode it !) the number of cpu to the correct value in the strc files, but I only su...

wrong CPU cores number and much more

Hello, During the install process of uems 18, the program does not correctly count the number of CPUs of my machine. That should not be a problem if you change the value in the PROFILE (for bash) file. But the problem is that UEMS refuses to run with all my 16 CPUs, saying that I have only 2 CPUs an...

Re: How to improve convection triggering?

@norulz :
are you tracking the "Medicane" case ? If yes it would be interesting if you could share what you have got as a comparison between WRF and observation !
For me, it is too far to the east to track it...

Re: How to improve convection triggering?

Hello norulz, I had a look into the cumulus physics routine code (WRF 3.8.1) and here is what I have seen : There are 2 modules that we are interested in : module_cu_kfeta.F and module_cu_mskf.F. Both routines have the same argument called "trigger" when called. Both are testing if trigger = 2 and d...

WRF compile options

Hello, If I want to compile WRF ARW from source code, what would be the closest option compared to the EMS binaries, knowing I have a XEON architecture : 1. (serial) 2. (smpar) 3. (dmpar) 4. (dm+sm) NEC SX (sxf90/sxcc) 5. (serial) 6. (smpar) 7. (dmpar) 8. (dm+sm) GNU (gfortran/gcc) 9. (serial) 10. (...

nomad tiles larger than ptiles from ems system ?

Hello, As stated in the title, despite the grib filter I have set on the grib files from Nomad server, Nomad files are still larger than uems ptiles files. uems gives 6 MB and equivalent Nomad gives 12 MB. I have no idea why ? I think that I have selected only necessary fields but... This is before ...

Re: How to improve convection triggering?

Hello,
As far as I know from my trials, at least 60 levels are required and Kain Fritsch multiscale (CU = 11). Better but not perfect.

Re: Madis with WRF UEMS 3 DVAR

Hi meteol,
I don't know if anybody here knows how to let the uems system ingest observational data... I even don't know if it is possible.

VTable.gfs and soil/temp 3D fields

Hello,
I was wondering how the gfs soil 3D fields are extracted from the Vtable values, because the soil levels specified in the Vtable are different from the soil levels seen in the GFS data file ??

Any idea ?
