Re: WRF NMM output to GRIB - topography is wrong!

Great job mate, but still NMM is a disappointment. I want the high resolution land mask, that's why I run a nest! I want ARW, NMM is not good.

Re: WRF NMM output to GRIB - topography is wrong!

Do you know what interpolation method is used when the output GRIBs are produced? This would tell a lot. The post process converts NMM's rotated lat-lon to Lambert conic conformal by interpolation. This along with the fact that land use comes from the coarse grid, I believe is the reason why we see ...

Re: WRF NMM output to GRIB - topography is wrong!

Hello again :)

Well I guess the reason is that nmm's nested domains get land mask information from the parent domain, which has lower resolution. I didn't know that at the time I started this topic.

Re: Crash in real.exe "troubles, could not find trapping x locations"

If I download WPS from the site now, does it contain the patch? I don't have the "attached" file, but I've seen the problem these days with our ARW runs.
I may compile it tonight, if it does have the patched file - or if you can attach it here.

Re: WRF 3.4 with WRF EMS

Yeah, this did the trick. I gotta buy you some beers meteoadriatic! In this case, credits seems to go to wrf_model :lol: My sincere apologies wrf_model! Beers for you too! I didn't notice that it wasn't meteoadriatic who wrote the message. Thanks again for sharing your experience and knowledge with...

Re: WRF 3.4 with WRF EMS

Hmm I guess I didn't take into account that during nesting, the hi res domain gets LBC from the parent in every time step, not just every half/one/three hours or whatever. That's a big difference. On the other hand, grid points that are labeled as sea, have very small variation in temperature and I ...

Re: WRF 3.4 with WRF EMS

Yeah, this did the trick. I gotta buy you some beers meteoadriatic! Now a more theoretic question, which I asked again some time ago : Since the child domain uses land mask information from the parent domain, what's the point of nesting? I mean, if I'm running a 24km parent and a 8km child, I would ...

Re: WRF 3.4 with WRF EMS

Here I am with more questions : I'm trying to run the newly compiled NMM with one nested domain and it crashes saying : -------------- FATAL CALLED --------------- FATAL CALLED FROM FILE: <stdin> LINE: 38 WRF-NMM compiled without nesting; set max_dom to 1 in namelist.input --------------------------...

Re: 2m temperature Alps

Have I told you that you're a legend? I don't think so. You're a legend man!

Btw I also had to change
num_land_cat = 24
to
num_land_cat = 20

in $EMS_HOME/data/tables/wrf/namelist.nmm

I'll post my first run results soon, stay tuned ;)
