Using JRA55 reanalysis as dset

I'm interested to use the JRA55 reanalysis to provide initialize and boundary conditions for a case study, but unsure what steps are necessary to get the JRA55 data into the needed format for UEMS to use. Is it simply a matter of renaming the JRA55 files one can download from NCAR/UCAR Research Data...

Re: dset nnrp incomplete?

Thanks... do you know how I need to source the nnrp3d files?

dset nnrp incomplete?

Hi, I'm interested to run WRFEMS (in a downscaling mode, driven by NCEP1 initial and boundary conditions) for a period of a few days in 1975, focusing on a small domain around New Zealand. At the ems-prep stage ems_prep --dset nnrp --analysis --date 19750801 --cycle 00 --domains 1,2,3,4 --length 24 ...

Re: dwiz lockup, cant localize (64bit)

Are there any known problems with WRFEMS under openSUSE 13.1? I have just installed the latest version under openSUSE 13.1 (having had no problems with various earlier versions under various releases of openSUSE). Although .cshrc does contain the mandated line, dwiz would not run until I manually is...

Re: Puzzling response to ems_post

Thanks for the suggestion. Permissions are not the issue. For some reason, I have to add the options as follows (for example):

ems_post --domain 3 --grib --grib2

I've had this experience more than once.

basis vectors for ugrdhy#, vgrdhy#

I am interested in the WRF solution rather close to sloping terrain (LEVELS=1.000, 0.998, 0.996, 0.994...), and I am unsure how to interpret the velocity components ugrdhy#, vgrdhy# (where # specifies the hybrid level, e.g. ugrdhy1 is "1 hybrid level U-Component Of Wind [m/s]"). The two possible int...

Puzzling response to ems_post

I've just installed wrfems (3.4.1.13.40) on a new machine. I re-created a domain I'd used on the old machine, and after setting the configuration files I did a quick run. However when I issue ems_post --domain 1 the response is No simulation file processing requested - Who knew? Any suggestion as to...

Re: WRFEMS persistently crashing

Thanks for your guidance on this meteoadriatic. I'll try with much more RAM. John.

Re: WRFEMS persistently crashing

It is as you suspected meteoadriatic. Shortly after starting the wrfems run, free -m was reporting mem: free 7961 MB buffers/cache: 7428 MB free swap: 465 MB used (total 2049) There was a steady decrease in buffers/cache free, until by the time the run had progressed 2 hrs 46 mins from initializatio...
