Here's New One: AWIPS and maksuparg, etc.

Well, this just had to happen. I found instructions for using WRFEMS using AWIPS in Appendix D. The instructions are very complete. BUT (and that's a big BUT: pun intended), when I reached the maksuparg and makeDataSups.patch material, I realized that Java code meant instructions I did not understan...

Re: cron and/or crontab: driving me (slightly) crazy!

It started right on schedule! There are two critical parts to this: 1. Enter "crontab -e" as the user, that is, log in as the user name (and maybe you could use crontab -u xxxxx) 2. Use only absolute path names. Using absolute path name guarantees that the scripts can always find the necessary files...

Re: cron and/or crontab: driving me (slightly) crazy!

Ahh! So, my intuition was correct! The permissions were correct but the path names were not! I'll give this a try and follow up with you within a few hours.

Thank you and I'll follow up again.

Re: cron and/or crontab: driving me (slightly) crazy!

Hmmm. I must be misunderstanding something obvious to others. I modified the ems_autowrapper file by adding: "touch /home/wxman_michael/wrfems/logs/experiment_log" with the correct permissions just below the "setenv EMS" line. Then I modified the crontab file ("crontab -e) from within root and ran c...

Re: cron and/or crontab: driving me (slightly) crazy!

Thanks I will give both of those suggestions a try. The first suggestion regarding the absolute path in root, is a little confusing. It isn't usually confusing, of course, but I want to make absolutely clear (to myself) how to set the path. If it's the absolute path in root, then the "crontab -e"sho...

cron and/or crontab: driving me (slightly) crazy!

I cannot tell if it's just me, or that something else might be wrong, but I cannot get cron (crontab) to execute Bob's script and I cannot find an obvious answer for the failure. Specifically, I have used Bob's script explicitly and changed the username, etc. I have run ems_autorun dozens of times i...

Some Experience with WRF EMS vs. 3.1.1.4.26beta

There isn't much space here but I wanted to share experience with the latest version of wrfems with forum users. Using the installation script, the installation itself went flawlessly, as it always does. Several issues continue to be nettlesome, however. I run wrfems on a small cluster of CentOS 5.4...

New ems_install.pl for 3.1.1.4.25.beta

I have installed wrfems 3.0.1.1 beta2 on one of the network machines here, a dual-processor, x86_64 Opteron 248 machine. I'm running CentOS 5.4, a Red Hat 5 clone. It installed very easily. I would like to install the newer wrfems, 3.1.1.4.26.beta version, but I have had no luck with the older ems_i...
