Hello, I haven't checked, but I believe that combining A+B gives you the maximum of elements and levels. I do not filter anything, so WRF EMS can take whatever it needs.

solution A + B is identical to the solution "master".
levels are 47 in both cases.
in this page is specified (*) that the sum of the two is equivalent to "master grib"

I'm going to check this too. I'll run two simulations, one with A+B, other with master file. If it is the same, resulting .nc files from metgrid must be equal, if not, there will be some difference.

Hello, after reading the thread i post to know if there is any advantage to use the A + B files or "master" files :)
Currently, to initialize the model use the GFS ptiles from STRC server. These files are derived from the GFS grib A, B or "master" ? :?:
If I want to continue to use the GFS ptile there is operationally a method to have them in "master" format (or A + B) ?

Thanks

Ok, Antonix according to your experience there are real advantages to using the master files instead ptiles? Thanks

Could have you inserted an extra space in the file path?
This is wrong:
/ pub/data/nccf/com/gfs/prod/gfs.2014032800/gfs.t00z.pgrb2f03
This is correct
/pub/data/nccf/com/gfs/prod/gfs.2014032800/gfs.t00z.pgrb2f03
