Domain Initilisation

Post by Soseki » Mon Aug 25, 2014 10:04 am

Hello

I have a working 12KM NMM domain that I would like to use the Grib output for to initialise another smaller, separate 4KM domain (on the same machine). I appear to have configured the wrf_gribinfo file correctly and specified the path to the 12KM Grib files and set the DSET as wrf in my 4KM configuration and all looks good.

Now, if my 4KM domain uses the NMM core, then the model runs up to the first 30 mins and then seg faults each time at the first 30 minute mark. If I use the ARW core then the preparation fails at the point of initialising the boundary conditions and gets no further.

Any ideas where I might be going wrong? I could always post any relevant logs etc.

Thanks

So it seems both cores are failing with the same error:-

not enough info for a p sfc computation

Anybody have an idea what might be wrong?

Maybe you miss some required fields in output gribs, but I believe that in this scenario there should be fault during metgrid phase already. Is there anything more useful in logs?

I'll check the metgrid logs. I was able to get the 4KM to run by adding the following text into the master namelist file:-

sfcp_to_sfcp = .true.

I'm not entirely sure what affect that has on things but it does allow the model to run at least.
