wgrib and wgrib2 but depending on what exactly you plan to do, that might not be useful to you.

Try:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/w ... _date.html
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/w ... dates.html

Never used that option and I don't know if wgrib for grib1 has that option, I'll leave that for you to research further.

Thanks a lot.. The command seems targeted for me... Just a question.. Is there a similar command for wgrib instead of wgrib2? It seems that the commands that you suggested me is only for wgrib2.
Thanks a lot in advance.

wgrib2 program works for grib2 format and vice versa, wgrib program works for grib1 format.

However, those are not same programs just for different formats, but they differ a lot. wgrib2 is much more advanced and can do lot more than wgrib.

The command - set_date X on wgrib2 works well.. My problem now is to save the new starting date on a new (or the same) grib file.. How can I do it?
Thanks in advance for your support..

Did you tried -grib and/or -grib_out options?

Refer to documentation here:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/w ... _grib.html

General docs:
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/w ... index.html

I tried the option -grib_out filename.grb
where filename is the name of the new grib2 file in which I'd like to store the old grib file with starting date modified..

unfortunately the option seems not works well..

the displayed message is:

FATAL ERROR: Could not open filename.grb

Do I make any errors?

Thanks in advance..
