Hello, what do you think of this processor? 4.2 GHz with WRF they would have good performance?

What about 6800K with 4 channel RAM? ;)

Hello Guys, I was considering to replace my old i5 3750k CPU with a new, seventh-generation quad core. I would like to focus on the solution to 6 cores but the cost of the mother board + ram + cpu becomes challenging and frankly I do not know what it's worth to buy a cpu to 6 hearts compared to a 4 hearts.

at that point I should focus on haswell processor. I wonder if it's worth it or better to buy a nice i7 of the seventh-generation type 7700

Great, but the motherboard would cost so much, and I also see a few around on ebay and amazon. Cost around 300 Euros ...

There is a significant difference with 7700k?

6 cores vs. 4 cores?

Then one thing, I with UEMS on 4 hearts do work in run only 3 core, UEMS goes faster with 3 cores with 4 cores. Having available a 6-core at this point 5 core would work together?

The benefits must justify the expense, I think the difference is several hundred Euros compared to 7700 LGA 1151

Like another ~10% faster than 7700K and ~20% faster than 6700K.

This is absurd and I think it happens only on PGI compiled binaries like UEMS use. I never NEVER experienced anything similar on my Intel builds.

You do not believe it but if the cpu configuration (in the domain) I put 4 cores 4 tile the run is slower than with 3 core and 3 tile

I didn't said that I don't believe but that it is absurd  I saw that when I used EMS binaries, too. Not with Intel. I think this is some flaw in PGI... not sure but this does not have any sense to me. When I load for example 7 threads at 8 core CPU I clear have load around 7.00 and if I actually use 8th core for something else, my WRF does not slow down at all and load goes to around 8.00. Very expected.. and if I assign 8th core for WRF it gets faster. In all imaginable configurations I set. Nesting, no nesting, big, small... why the hell it should slow down with all cores? I never saw good explanation for that.

I'm glad this thing because maybe it could help solve my problem. If you use 4 cores on 4 UEMS crashes
