EMS versus Specified processor count difference

With soon inclusion of the NEMS NMM-B model into the EMS package, WRF EMS changes its name and becomes UEMS.

EMS versus Specified processor count difference

We have 16 processors and specify 16 this in EMS.cshrc and run 15 CPUS on our domain.

sysinfo states that EMS Determined Total Processors is 8.

During the runs there are 15 processes running. We just want to verify that indeed 15 processors are being used and not 15 processes being spread across actually 8 CPUs.

Processor and Memory Information for model server

CPU Name : AMD Opteron(TM) Processor 6220
CPU Instructions : bulldozer
CPU Type : 64-bit
CPU Speed : 2999.93 MHz

EMS Determined Processor Count
Physical CPUs : 2
Cores per CPU : 4
Total Processors : 8

EMS.cshrc Specified Processor Count
Physical CPUs : 2
Cores per CPU : 8
Total Processors : 16

Hyper-Threading : On

Can anyone attest that we are on the right track and actually using 15 CPUs and not 8? Thanks.

Watch system load. If you have 16 logical cores system load should be around 16 (not around 8 or around 32). Or 15 if you use 15 instead. Of course that is true if you do not run anything CPU hungry in parallel.
