Sea model

With soon inclusion of the NEMS NMM-B model into the EMS package, WRF EMS changes its name and becomes UEMS.

Sea model

Hi, what about the possibility of developing a model for marine data with UEMS or WRF-EMS like in Openskiron?
Are there any guides or tricks?

Thank you

Hi,

FYI the marine data in openSkiron.org is taken from external sources running the WAM model for waves and the NEMO model (and others) for sea currents. This marine data is merged with the UEMS atmospheric forecast data in the distributed Grib files. These are primarily targeted to the sailing community thus the atmospheric/marine combination.

I did, at one point, consider setting up a production model running WW3 to improve on previously used WAM data but found that there is excellent ocean data available for use thanks to CMEMS (COPERNICUS MARINE ENVIRONMENT MONITORING SERVICE). I came to the conclusion that there would be no added benefit in setting up one's own model runs for ocean data and the lack of a UEMS type wrapping and support for the ocean models is also a bit of a deterrent for doing it on your own.
