Re: AHAILsfc plot

Your microphysics option has to support hail, otherwise the field has no values. The same applies to graupel.

Re: New "WRF" EMS coming?

Soon...very soon..

Robert updated the status on NEWR EMS:

"...I'll try to get it fixed in the next release, which I was hoping for next Wednesday, May 1st. That was before I began updating the documentation though..."

It's been a looooong wait, but it seems that Robert is finally ready to reveal the new "NEWR EMS" model package. Re: FINWRF

Hi, Here's a quick guide to setting up the 3D-VAR data assimilation. Or this is at least the way I did it. 1) Install the free Intel C and fortran compilers on your computer. 2) Compile NETCDF with those intel compilers. 3) Install MPICH2 with those Intel compilers 4) Untar WRFDA (3.2.1) 5) Replace ...

Re: FINWRF

Hi,

I do use WRF EMS to run the model itself but I additionally compiled the WRFDA (3DVAR) from scratch. So I didn't integrate it into WRF EMS, I just run them separately as one would do "normally".

Re: WRF EMS SNODsfc Snow depth missing.

In case someone is still interested in this topic: my understanding is that the NOAH surface scheme does not output snow depths, only snow water equivalent fields.

If you want snow depth as an output you'd need to choose the RUC scheme, which on the other hand does not work with GFS initial data.
