Unable to download ems system from installer

Hello, I tried to reinstall ems system by running the installer. I have redHat Enterprise 4. When I type ./ems_install.pl --install I get this result :"There appears to be a problem connecting 128.117.110.214 which is the ems update server..." then the script stops. So, I replaced in the ems_install...

Re: Surface Data Sets

Hello meteoadriatic,
I just saw this old post. I tried to run with modis data but unfortunately, modis data is only for US....
But ssthr works for Europe. Did you make some new discovery in this topic ?

Urban Model

Hi, In the urban model there are 3 types of urban land use : high density area, low density area, and commercial area. In the LANDUSE file for soil data, we only have one USGS category called "urban" area. In the doc file of wrf/ems, it is written that urban model can still be used, even if we have ...

Cannot select Cumulus physics option 5 NMM

Hello, I use the last version (3.1) of EMS/WRF and I run the NMM core with only one domain, DX=3 km. In the physics.conf file, I write 5 for the cumulus physics. But when I run the program and look into namelist files in the static directory of my run, I see that cumulus physics has been set to 0......

Re: Which Linux distro for WRF EMS - Debian or?

Scientific Linux is freely available from CERN. Periodically updated according to a strict schedule. It is a compilation from the last Red Hat Enterprise. I use it without any problem for WRF EMS 3.1 on a 8 CPU machine. They made the choice to follow this distro so they will not change...

Re: Globcover in WRF-EMS

Hi Lucy,
How will WRF work with the globcover data since the spatial resolution is different.
For the moment, I try to find a trial version of Arcgis, since I do it by myself and not through an organization...

Re: snow parameter

Hi guys,
I also saw this problem, and came to the same conclusion : initialization with GFS field is too coarse. So I do the same. I substract the initial depth to the final depth obtained during the simulation....

Re: Globcover in WRF-EMS

Sorry,
I misunderstood what to download.
Is GlobCover_V2.2_Global the right file to download ? If yes, I have just downloaded it now....
I try to understand how it is built.
Lucy, how did you do that ?
Thanks a lot !

Re: Nudging

You mean to input observation in WRF, instead for example GFS data ? No, I do not know but I wish I knew. I am especially interested in data from satellites. It is very important in winter, that means now... Snow cover data from GFS are too inaccurate because of the mesh size. So, when WRF is initia...
