help with --lsm?

Hi All: I have never gotten --lsm to work with uEMS. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

This runs fine:
> ems_prep --dset nam --date 20190902 --length 24 --cycle 00 --domain 2 --nudge

But this crashes - first it reports the lsm data is available, then it reports it is unavailable and crashes...
> ems_prep --dset nam --lsm sportlispt --date 20190902 --length 24 --domain 2 --nudge
