help with --lsm?

Post by pattim »

Hi All: I have never gotten --lsm to work with uEMS. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

This runs fine:
> ems_prep --dset nam --date 20190902 --length 24 --cycle 00 --domain 2 --nudge

But this crashes - first it reports the lsm data is available, then it reports it is unavailable and crashes...
> ems_prep --dset nam --lsm sportlispt --date 20190902 --length 24 --domain 2 --nudge
I. Initialization Summary:
* Initialization dataset information:
Simulation Start Time | Sun Sep 1 12:00:00 2019 UTC
Simulation End Time | Mon Sep 2 12:00:00 2019 UTC
Simulation Length | 24 Hours
Initial Condition Dataset | (Forecast dataset)
NAM Cycle Date | Sun Sep 1 12:00:00 2019 UTC
NAM Verif Date | Sun Sep 1 12:00:00 2019 UTC (0 Hour Forecast)
Boundary Condition Frequency | 60 Minutes
Static Surface Datasets | None
Alt Lake Temp Initialization | Yes
Land Surface Datasets | SPORTLISPT (Sun Sep 1 12:00:00 2019 UTC)
Aerosol Climatology Dataset | QNWFA_QNIFA_SIGMA_MONTHLY.dat
* Included Sub-Domains:
Domain Parent Start Date & Time
2 1 Sun Sep 1 12:00:00 2019 UTC
II. Collecting the initialization datasets for your simulation
* Searching for NAM files to use as model initial and boundary conditions
☺ The data files are already at home in your grib directory
* Searching for SPORTLISPT personal tiles to augment land surface fields
☺ The data files are already at home in your grib directory

Excellent - Your master plan is working!

III. Create the WPS intermediate format files
* Processing nam files for initial and boundary conditions (w/nudging) - Success
* Processing sportlispt files for land surface model fields - Success
Intermediate file processing completed in 2 minutes 15 seconds

IV. Horizontal interpolation of intermediate files to the computational domain
* Calculating mean surface temperatures for missing water values - Failed
! While perusing the log files, I found the following:
Found in prep_avgtsfc1.log - 2019-09-01 10:59:01.186 --- ERROR: Problem opening wpsprd/SPORTLISPTLSM at time 2019-09-01_13
Found in prep_avgtsfc2.log - ERROR: Problem opening wpsprd/SPORTLISPTLSM at time 2019-09-01_13
! Not looking good - Check local_01/log/failed_avgtsfc
☠ The interpolation of data to the computational domain failed, which bites.

Your UEMS Prep party was busted at Sun Sep 1 17:59:02 2019 UTC - Ya know, 'cause stuff just happens

You did not ever figure out the problem here did you, I am suddenly getting this error with one of my domains and not other one!
