a) crash of real.exe, or
b) taking 80m parameters instead of 2m for surface fields
This issue does apply to all users who use FULL GFS set, however, as most of you who use gfsptiles also have gfs as fallback option in case gfsptiles aren't available, all of you should install this patch now!
This is official patch from Robert and his announcement:
Code: Select all
Greetings All -
I have fixed the problem leading to poor low-level temperature and wind initialization when using the FULL GFS data set, which was related to the addition of 80 and 100m AGL fields to the GRIB files following the recent update. I won't bore you with the details.
Correcting this problem requires you to update the "bin/ungrib" routine on your system - yet again.
I have updated the EMS beta release on the STRC servers to V3.2.1.5.45.beta; however, for those of you not wishing to do another complete install, I've placed tar files on the SOOSTRC server that contains a cumulative update since the V34.beta release:
http://soostrc.comet.ucar.edu/strc/wrfe ... te.x32.tgz
And
http://soostrc.comet.ucar.edu/strc/wrfe ... te.x64.tgz
ALL USERS - Including V3.1.1.5.1, If you only want the ungrib binary:
http://soostrc.comet.ucar.edu/strc/wrfems/ungrib.x32.gz
And
http://soostrc.comet.ucar.edu/strc/wrfems/ungrib.x64.gz
Again, unlike most EMS updates, this one must be installed manually since the ems_install.pl routine was not designed to update beta releases.
To install:
1. Download file and place your tar file in the top level of the EMS ($EMS).
2. Save existing bin/real_arw.exe, bin/wrfm_arw.exe and bin/ungrib executables - just in case
3. % tar -xzvf wrfems.3.2.1.5.45.beta.update.(x32|x64).tgz
