Good morning

I have this bug: from a certain time onwards all the maps, plotted with grads, show this "caos"

The simulation runs for 132 hours. In this case the error starts from the 34th hours BUT after i modified the $EMS/runs/<domain>/conf/ems_post/post_grib.conf (last 2 lines,
from

GRIBNAME = YYMMDDHHMN_CORE_dWD.grb#fFXFMFS
AUXGRIBNAME = YYMMDDHHMN_KEY_CORE_dWD.grb#fFXFMFS

to

GRIBNAME = YYMMDDHHMN_CORE_dWD.grb#fFHFMFS
AUXGRIBNAME = YYMMDDHHMN_KEY_CORE_dWD.grb#fFHFMFS

) and the previous error started in another hour and the grads/ctl file started from 32 hours than the initial time.

Thus, I think there will be another configuration variable to change, but... what?

But quesit are ECMWF data, please enter your script grads

Your grib file is exceeds 2GB in size.

You need to adapt some perl files to enable big grib files handling correctly in grads.

File:
wrfems/strc/ems_post/post_grads.pm

Find line that says:
system "$gribmap -q -E -i gradsfil.ctl -> /dev/null";
(or something like that)

Change into:
system "$gribmap -q -E -big -i gradsfil.ctl -> /dev/null";

This line is in two places inside file, change both locations. I hope this is enough, if it is not, then you will need to replace gribmap binary with newer one, but first try only this step.

That will correct "mess" you see after 34th hour.

I have tried but I have the same error.

What about the gribmap binary file?

Download opengrads, extract it, and inside it you will find newer gribmap file. Then, find out where your gribmap is (command "which gribmap"), and then replace that with version from opengrads.

can you explain what is g2ctl, please?

It is script that creates .ctl file from grib.

Type command: "which g2ctl" to find out where it is on your environment. Then find one provided in opengrads package and replace with it.

I think this is strange but I haven't it both in the environment and in the opengrads package
