Best practices for dropping spinup time

Post by norulz »

Hi all,

If I wish to drop the first 6 hours of a run by setting FREQ_WRF_GRIB = 180:360, 60:360 in the post_grib.conf, the resulting grib files are using the initialization file reference time and the first forecast records are for 6 hours forecast.

Is it an acceptable practice to reset the reference time for the WRF output to plus 6 hours and adjust the time axis accordingly?

What is the best way to accomplish this? (I have tried CDO -settaxis and it works OK)

Thanks
