Short-wave clear sky horizontal radiation

Post by oib » Fri Dec 12, 2014 5:25 pm

Hi all,
I'm on WRFV3.6.1 ARW and I'm investigating how to output that field.
In the registry I see the field SWDOWNC "DOWNWARD CLEAR-SKY SHORT WAVE FLUX AT GROUND SURFACE" (W m-2).
And that field is in the output netcdf.
But the grid has all zeros.
I read that SWDOWNC is really only available for GFDL radiation schemes (ra_sw_physics = 98 or 99), that is NOT the one I use (ra_sw_physics = 2)
So the question is: I can one obtain this output field for radiation schemes other than GFDL ?
Perhaps a skilled user could find that field in the fortran code that defines the radiation scheme and find a way to add it to the output...

Many thanks in advance :)
