If you have more money, 6800K will be faster but I think with less good ratio performace/price.

there is a significant difference between 7700k and 6800k?meteoadriatic wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2017 9:23 pm If you have more money, 6800K will be faster but I think with less good ratio performace/price.
2 cores more but less frequency, at this point if you really need to spend the money should bet on a 8 core.
ivan you who are using?

Re: Intel-Core-i7-7700K
I found that for WRF, this benchmark predicts performance VERY closely:

I use various CPUs on different installations but none of those two. But you can't fail much predicting them by using above metrics.

Re: Intel-Core-i7-7700K
thanks ivan. mistake or 6850k is put right? It could be a viable alternative

Re: Intel-Core-i7-7700K
Sure there are much difference between 6850k and 3570k. I advice again to use cpubenchmark.net.
Comparision: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.ph ... 5B%5D=2800
So result is about double CPU mark in favor of 6850k which means it will take simulation in about half time compared to 3570k. It is not exact, but it is very close to real results with WRF.

thanks ivan, are useful info for my hardware choice. Last question, I read a little of 6900 (8 hours), there are major differences with the 6800? wrf could be important in this difference?meteoadriatic wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2017 12:09 pm Sure there are much difference between 6850k and 3570k. Sure 2 cores more but much $$$ more

In my opinion not worth money but if you must get as poweful CPU as you can of course go for it it is faster.
