As regards the processor, which upgraded me advice? the 7700k or 6800k?

2 cores more but less frequency, at this point if you really need to spend the money should bet on a 8 core.

I use various CPUs on different installations but none of those two. But you can't fail much predicting them by using above metrics.

So result is about double CPU mark in favor of 6850k which means it will take simulation in about half time compared to 3570k. It is not exact, but it is very close to real results with WRF.

thanks ivan, are useful info for my hardware choice. Last question, I read a little of 6900 (8 hours), there are major differences with the 6800? wrf could be important in this difference?

Sure 2 cores more but much $$$ more

In my opinion not worth money but if you must get as poweful CPU as you can of course go for it it is faster.
