Incidence Sata 2.0 - 3.0/1

Hi, I was wondering what can be the influence of a memory (hard disk) with SATA 2.0 connection against the new 3.0 / 1 of WRF. Using a SSD memory I have not noticed much difference apart from a start-up and fast system management and resources. Meteoadriatic recommended the use of a mechanical memory, as wrf shorten the life of the SSD, and on this I agree.

The question is on the data connection type (speed). Have you noticed a particular difference HD 2.0 and 3.0 ?, we always talk about a mechanic and not solid HD, the classic WD or Maxtor

Again you will not see difference during WRF integration. Maybe ungrib and UPP and cnvgrib phase will be little slower but that is virtually nothing compared to whole simulation time.

I put my old Hard Disk 500GB Sata 2 ...

The same simulation ARW (without nesting) to 72 hours with 25km gfs data (+ monsondata lakes / rivers)

MAXTOR HDD 500GB SATA 2: 1 hour and 38 minutes

SAMSUNG 850 EVO SSD SATA 3: 1 hour and 33 minutes

The difference is small, it must be said, however, that my current motherboard is a Sata 2 so I could not even take advantage of the high speed of the SATA 3 although I think it will not change much.

The difference then is heard, but I do not think five minutes is the end of the world .... I hope soon to take a Hard Disk SATA 3 just come to me the new motherboard.
