OK, it is new one, so you must install 3.2 beta version using it. Did you specified version when you started installer?

See ems_install.pl --help for details how to list available versions and chose apropriate one by specifying it as argument to ems_install.pl

No, I didn't specify the version when I ran the install script. I had the impression it would automatically pick the latest available version, so this answers my question. Thanks very much for your help!

OK, with your help I've got Release 3.2... installed and running (sort of). However, my first /benchmark/arw run produced the following errors and diagnostics:

How is the namelist.input file generated?
I'm wondering if the missing files are simply directory permission issues.
Advice will be most appreciated.

Try to find log directory into /home/chilimac/wrfems/util/benchmark/arw and inside log files (do that before you try to restart or clean-up the run).

Then in log files try to find more information why run fails. If you find "segmentation fault" anywhere inside, it is too old CPU for these binaries. Easiest way to check is to grep whole run directory for "segmentation fault" (or "Segmentation fault").

If this is not the case I have no idea right now from this output.

Which binaries you have installed? Easy way to say is to look for empty dot (hidden) file inside wrfems/bin directory.

There were no fault diagnostics in any of the log files:

Not sure about the significance of the missing "shanghai" executable.

I've had to tinker with the scripts to get around some issues that seem to be a problem in Ubuntu, in particular the use of the >& redirect syntax which I had to replace with &> in order to get rid of "bad fd number" errors. Not sure if this is relevant, but the program wouldn't run at all before I made those changes.

Thanks again for your interest and help!

Inside these should be some useful info:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 chilimac chilimac 183 2011-08-18 11:53 wrfm.0000.err
-rw-rw-r-- 1 chilimac chilimac 27 2011-08-18 11:53 wrfm.0000.out

However... .shanghai file tells that Shanghai is a installed target architecture. That is too new for Sempron. No, no.. this cannot work.

I think you need x32 binaries.

So my advise would be to delete this and reinstall with giving target x32 binaries as argument to ems_install.pl script. I don't remember correct syntax but check out ems_install.pl --help for finding that out. Or, simply download x32 binaries from http://soostrc.comet.ucar.edu/wrfems/re ... 5.34.beta/ and replace them...
