Does anyone know what are all requirements to meet in order to have lightning data in gribs apart from microphysics scheme turned on (does any work?), do_radar_ref=1 and lightning_option=1, also in wrf_cntrl.parm:
Wow, I did not know that this field exists, I have never tried this. Did you find any solution in the mean time? Will this output the lightning probability in percent?
It requires fixed time step AND cu_physics = 5. And then you get pretty much same areas as high radar reflectivity and/or high updraft areas, because those schemes use that parameters to forecast lightning. I don't think it is worth it. Just use reflectivity or vertical speed to do the same...
MAYBE in EMS code is improved in a way to be able to use adaptive or other cu_physics. I don't know. Try...
