Hello,
We use MP_Physics = 5 on majority of our model regions. We noted that the NOAA WRF model also uses this physics setting and has radar reflectivity. Will there ever be radar reflectivity in the WRFEMS for this physics settings?
Radar Reflectivity MP_Physics = 5

I don't use UEMS anymore so I'm not sure if it supports AFWA diagnostics. Please research that for yourself. Then if you find that it does, then there is namelist setting afwa_radar_opt that will probably do what you ask for. As per AFWA users guide, fields will go into separate output file. Here is a manual:

However, if it is implemented in UEMS, things might be different from that manual.
Let us know if that works for you

Re: Radar Reflectivity MP_Physics = 5
Thanks for the information. From what I'm seeing, the radar reflectivity is only available for these MP_Physics: do_radar_ref = 1: compute radar reflectivity using microphysics-specific parameters in the model. Works for mp_physics = 2,4,6,7,8,10,14,16.
So I'm guessing these other models that have radar reflectivity are not using 5 like I thought.
